Safety Leadership Training

Training Course Overview: RMS has developed a training program designed to equip Supervisors with the skills they need to lead employees toward a safer work environment.  The core topics that will be discussed during this program include: Establishing a Positive Safety Culture; Performing Job Hazard Analysis; Conducting Safety Inspections; Correcting Unsafe Behaviors; Investigating Incidents; and Identifying Impaired Employees.  The content has been developed to be relevant for both construction and general industry Supervisors.  Please note that the segment on Identifying Impaired Employees will not comply with DOT regulations for Reasonable Suspicion training.  Highlights:
  • Experienced Trainer  (Degreed 18+ year safety professional previously employed by OSHA & Miller Pipeline as their Corporate Safety Director)
  • High Impact Content  (Unlike most training programs that are designed to provide students with technical knowledge, this program is designed to help Supervisors develop skills they need to effectively manage the safety of their employees.)
  • Group Exercises  (Students will break into groups and brainstorm various ways they can help establish an effective safety culture and factors they need to consider when correcting unsafe behaviors.)

FIRST AID/CPR/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens

Training Course OVERVIEW: RMS Safety offers a training program that will certify employees in Adult First-Aid, CPR & AED according to the National Safety Council protocol.  In addition, students will be trained in Bloodborne Pathogens as required by OSHA.  All students will receive a certification through National Safety Council that is valid for 2-years for FA/CPR/AED and a certificate from RMS Safety for bloodborne pathogens. Confined Space Competent Person

Overview: RMS has developed a “Confined Space Competent Person” training program that will provide students with a broad understanding of the 1910 and 1926 standards relative to Confined Space Entry.  This review will not only cover the elements of each standard, but will also incorporate applicable Letters of Interpretation and Frequently Asked Questions published by OSHA.   In addition to detailed knowledge of OSHA’s Confined Space requirements, students will also gain practical guidance for the use of confined space equipment, lessons learned from past incidents and experiences, and tips for planning a successful rescue.  At the conclusion of our classroom instruction, all students will participate in a mock entry drill that will be facilitated using our “Confined Space Simulator”.  They will also complete a written test to help employers gauge the knowledge & retention of their employees.   Upon completion of the class each student will be given a certificate of completion and a form that their employer can complete in order to identify them as a “Competent Person”.   Highlights:

Equipment Train The Trainer (Aerial/Scissor/Forklift)

Overview: RMS Safety has developed a training program that will give students the knowledge and training they need in order to train their own employees in the safe operation of Aerial Lifts, Scissor Lifts, and Forklifts.  Please note that qualified trainers must also have hands-on experience with operating the equipment they will be training on.  This course will not give students that experience.   Highlights:

Overview: RMS has developed a “Confined Space Competent Person” training program that will provide students with a broad understanding of the 1910 and 1926 standards relative to Confined Space Entry.  This review will not only cover the elements of each standard, but will also incorporate applicable Letters of Interpretation and Frequently Asked Questions published by OSHA.   In addition to detailed knowledge of OSHA’s Confined Space requirements, students will also gain practical guidance for the use of confined space equipment, lessons learned from past incidents and experiences, and tips for planning a successful rescue.  At the conclusion of our classroom instruction, all students will participate in a mock entry drill that will be facilitated using our “Confined Space Simulator”.  They will also complete a written test to help employers gauge the knowledge & retention of their employees.   Upon completion of the class each student will be given a certificate of completion and a form that their employer can complete in order to identify them as a “Competent Person”.   Highlights:

First Aid/CPR/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens

Overview: RMS Safety offers a training program that will certify employees in Adult First-Aid, CPR & AED according to the National Safety Council protocol.  In addition, students will be trained in Bloodborne Pathogens as required by OSHA.  All students will receive a certification through National Safety Council that is valid for 2-years for FA/CPR/AED and a certificate from RMS Safety for bloodborne pathogens.   Highlights:
  • Experienced Trainer (Degreed safety professional previously employed by Illinois Power Company & Driver Solutions and employed with RMS Safety for 10+ years)
  • Comprehensive Content (Adult First-Aid, Adult CPR, AED & Bloodborne Pathogens)

Excavation Competent Person

Overview: This program will provide students with a thorough understanding of OSHA’s excavation requirements and how to fulfill their duties as a “Competent Person”.  This program uses a detailed classroom presentation, live demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and it ends with a challenging test to help employers gauge the knowledge & retention of their employees.   Highlights:
  • Experienced Trainer (Degreed 18-year safety professional previously employed by OSHA & Miller Pipeline as their Corporate Safety Director)
  • Comprehensive Content (OSHA’s Subpart P, Letters of Interpretation, Manufacturer’s Tabulated Data, & tips for tough shoring situations)
  • Live Demonstrations (Using pocket pentrometers, performing thumb & drying tests, inspecting shoring for damage, and more)
  • Hands-On Exercises (Actual installation of shoring in open spaces and around congested utilities using our “Trench Simulator”)
  • Challenging Test (65+ answer closed book test that includes using charts to install shoring, proper benching dimensions, and more)

Cancellation Policy: We reserve the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrollment.  All registrants will be notified no less than 5-calendar days before the scheduled start date.  All requests to cancel the registration of an attendant must be in writing  (e-mail, fax, or mail will be acceptable) 5 or more business days prior to the class.  You may designate a substitute in writing any time before the course date.  Refunds will not be granted for Cancellations with less than 5 business days notice, or for attendant no-shows.
