OSHA Proposes Delay in Electronic Reporting Compliance Date

OSHA has proposed a delay in the electronic reporting compliance date of the rule, Improve Tracking of Workplace Injury and Illnesses, from July 1, 2017, to Dec. 1, 2017. The proposed delay will allow OSHA an opportunity to further review and consider the rule. The agency has determined that a delay will allow additional review into questions of law and policy. Fact Sheet on Confined Space in Residential Construction

OSHA has developed a new Fact Sheet on Confined Space in Residential Construction. This was developed to clarify some of the standard’s provisions and their application to residential construction work. One important update is that a “Competent Person” does not have to enter the space in order to assess hazards. Click here to download the new Fact Sheet.

Heat Safety

As we enter the warmest time of the year, it is recommended to be prepared for heat illness and heat related injuries. OSHA has developed a Heat Safety Tool application for mobile devices. The App allows workers and supervisors to calculate the heat index for their worksite, and, based on the heat index, displays a risk level to outdoor workers.
