37.8M Kidde Fire Extinguishers Recalled

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a massive fire extinguisher recall that spans over 40 years and covers more than 140 models of fire extinguishers. The recall includes two styles of the Kidde extinguishers, with over 143 models between Jan. 1, 1973 and Aug. 15,2017. OSHA Issues Final Rule Setting Compliance Date for Crane Operator Certification Requirements

OSHA issued a final rule that sets November 10, 2018, as the date employers in the construction industry must comply with a requirement for crane operator certification. The final rule became effective on November 9, 2017. Click here to read the news release.

On September 23, 2017 the Respirable Crystalline Silica construction standard, 29 CFR § 1926.1153, became enforceable .  Below is the memorandum on enforcement policy for the construction industry.  The Respirable Crystalline Silica construction standard, 29 CFR § 1926.1153, becomes enforceable on September 23, 2017. The standard establishes a new 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA) Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 50 µg/m3, an action level (AL) of 25 µg/m3, and a host of ancillary requirements. OSHA Has Delayed Electronic Reporting Requirement Again

OSHA entered a final rule in 2016 that requires certain employers to submit injury and illness data electronically. The change is designed to decrease paperwork for the government and to allow for easier data analysis to be used in enforcement and compliance efforts. OSHA Announces Top 10 Violations for 2017

At the NSC Congress and Expo last week, OSHA’s Deputy Director of Enforcement Programs Patrick Kapust, announced the preliminary list of 10 standards most frequently cited by the agency’s inspectors during Fiscal Year 2017.
