OSHA Proposed Extension to Deadline for Crane Operator Certification Requirements

OSHA issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to extend the employer’s responsibility to ensure crane operator competency and enforcement for crane operator certification to Nov. 10, 2018. The proposed delay is to address stakeholder concerns over the operator certification requirements in the Cranes and Derricks in Construction standard. Click here to read the proposed rule.

Florida Roofing Company Fined with $1.5 Million in Penalties

On March 16, 2013, OSHA changed their rules for Fall Protection in residential construction. A Florida roofing company, Great White Construction Inc., recently saw the effects of these new rules. They were fined over $1.5 million in penalties after repeatedly exposing workers to fall hazards. Overall, Great White Construction was cited with 14 violations.
